SUNNY SKIES RETURN AFTER TWO DAYS OF RAIN

Feb. 13, 2005, Jonathan Roldan, Tailhunter International, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

Two days of literally nonstop rain hit La Paz late in the week. However, Saturday and Sunday, sun is back out and shining so everyone is drying out. The best fishing had been on the La Paz side. Some hot fishing is coming off El Bajito which is a little high spot on the northwest side of Espiritu Santo Island not too far from the sea lion colony at Los Isolotes.

Yellowtail are biting nicely and one fishing boat got a rare 100-pound grouper as well as amberjack in the 20-40 pound class.

I checked the satellite sea surface temperature images and interestingly, most water temperatures are around 62-64 degrees. But there's some slightly warmer water at the north end of the island there and some water close to 70 degrees at the south end of Isla Cerralvo where we got a few tuna last week. The warm water extends out towards the east towards the 88 spot so things could be brewing.
