FISHING BOATS FOCUS ON BEACHES AND ROCKS ON LAS ARENAS SIDE

May 15, 2005, Jonathan Roldan, Tailhunter International, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

A good mixed bag of inshore fishing was the rule at La Paz this week, although there were more dorado picked up around Espiritu Santo Island. Most of the sportfishing focus was on the beaches and rocks, especially for our Las Arenas boats that ran into schools of smaller roosterfish and tough jack crevalle toward the end of the week.

These fishing boats had a blast and caught all they wanted. There were more of those big roosters as several fish between 50 and 90 pounds, on the scale, were caught and released. Thankfully, most of these larger good fighting, but poor eating fish are released. In addition, pargo, cabrilla and snapper were also in the fish boxes.

We had one sailfish hook up and dropped, and two guys went to south Isla Cerralvo and got their whistles cleaned by trolling for wahoo without wire, so there's some other critters out there.
