MOSQUITO FLEET FISHING MOSTLY FOR CABRILLA AND PARGO

May 22, 2005, Luis Lopez, Mosquito Fleet, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

This week was quiet, as we sent out three super pangas per day, and one cruiser, and the La Paz fishing was mostly for cabrilla and pargo of 5 to 8 pounds, and yellowtail of 20 to 35 pounds. We saw lots of marlin around the 88 bajo and at La Reina, but they didn't want to eat. We also saw some wahoo, but still no tuna.

We are fishing the northeast side of Isla Espiritu Santo, and also got some roosterfish of about 35 to 40 pounds.

The south wind, or Coromuel, has been pretty strong in the mornings, and so sometimes it is a little difficult to fish at that time. Because of this wind, it has been a little cooler at night and in the mornings, with higher temperatures during the hot sun of the day.

Underwater visibility has been good, and diving has been very good. We are still seeing some whales at the island, and we are still seeing some whale shark in the bay.
