CHARTER BOATS FISHING IN TOUGH WEATHER AND SEA CONDITIONS

Aug. 28, 2005, Jonathan Roldan, Tailhunter International, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

Fishing got walloped here at La Paz this past week by a variety of factors that made it as tough a week as ever. Although the La Paz fishing area never really had the full blast of a storm, we had to deal with the fringes of Hurricane Hilary; a tropical storm called E-9; and another called "Irwin."

La Paz got sporadic and intense rain from time to time, but mostly we got strong winds and some big waves coupled with a drop in water temperatures; lack of bait; plus the residuals from a full moon and we had a bad recipe for fishing!

We still got fish, but we sure had to work for it. Small dorado and some occasional larger fish were still to be caught and we had several times when the marlin bit like crazy. In fact, we had one fishing day when we hooked more than 20 marlin in a single day. Hopefully, things will get better, but this is just the way it has been this season...totally unpredictable.
