LAS ARENAS SIDE REPORT

Aug. 19, 2006, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas side sportfishing report:

This week the weather on Friday and Saturday was at 98 degrees during the day in our fishing area on the Las Arenas side of La Paz, with some wind from the south earlier, but now returning to calm conditions.

The fishing has also improved with some dorado caught to 30 pounds, and a few tuna of 35 to 40 pounds also, captured. We are not catching as large dorado as before, however.

We have striped marlin in all the nearby areas, such as Punta Perico, south of Isla Cerralvo, and the 88 bank outside the island.

The fishing water temperature has been between 80 and 88 degrees in the areas where we are working these days, north of Las Cruces for medium sized dorado, and also south around Boca del Alamo.

We are using mackerel bait and also sardina baits which we have good quantities of for all of our boats.
