LARGE DORADO CAUGHT WITH SQUID BAITS AT LAS CRUCES

Sept. 30, 2006, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, Mexico:

For this week of fishing at Las Arenas, we had plenty of warm weather at 98 degrees for our pangas in the main fishing areas of Punta Arena, south of Ensenada de los Muertos, north of Isla Cerralvo, and off Las Cruces.

Today, on Saturday, we are finding the best fishing in the area around Las Cruces for pure dorado, and the fishermen are finding dorado of 30 to 40 pounds.

We have plenty of bait, including squid, which is helping us catch these large dorado.

We also have enough sardina baits, and we are using them for yellowfin tuna. The tuna fishing is south of Isla Cerralvo to Punta Perico, and the fish are of about 15 to 25 pounds.
