TWO-DAY FISHING TRIP OUT OF HOTEL LA PINTA

July 18, 2004, Shawn Cooper, Loreto, Mexico Dorado and Yellowtail Fishing with Arturo’s.

We stayed at La Pinta and fished a total of two days with Arturo's, July 9 and 10. Our captain was Rafael. I don't know his last name. The weather was hot and the seas were mostly calm. I'm not sure of the water temperature.

On July 9 we found the Dorado mid-morning while trolling live sardines. In addition to the large bull, we caught and kept 3 others that were much smaller, up to 15 pounds. We also caught and released a couple of other small ones.

On July 10 we were unable to find the Dorado again; however, late morning we joined a couple of other boats bottom fishing for large Yellowtail just south of Point Pulpito. We caught 3 up to 22 pounds on cut up squid. The other boats were successful with live mackerel.
