PUNTA PULPITO PRODUCES GOOD YELLOWTAIL ACTION

Feb. 26, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Loreto sportfishing vacation area weather has been sunny and calm during the week, with the sea surface water temperature at 60 to 70 degrees, and the ambient air temperature at 59 to 69 degrees. These are the last days of winter and we are getting ready to begin Loreto's spring fishing season.

Yellowtail fishing has been great at Loreto and angler's caught lot of them in the area around Punta Pulpito, right where our San Nicolas Fishing Camp is located. The week, we have had Joe Baima's group at San Nicolas Fishing Camp and they reported good fishing for different types of fish there, including Yellowtail, red snapper, and Sea Bass. Wes Smiley and David Gray also fished in the area during the week.

Also Loreto now has some yellowtail fishing on La Choya reef between Carmen and Coronado Islands, but most of the hook up were lost because there is a rocky bottom there and it is not very deep.

We recommend 6X Junior jigs in colors like scrambled egg, blue-white, and yellow-green, and also the Squid brand YOZURI for trolling, colors pink, and red-black. These where the champions in last year's fishing at Loreto.

Mackerel bait is available at Coronado Island's south side early in the morning, and sardina in the morning at the Loreto harbor, $10 U.S. for plenty.
