MISSION TOURNAMENT WINNER A 32-POUND YELLOWTAIL

July 25, 2005, Tom Bird, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Chris Sexton was fishing aboard the Pajaro Loco during the Loreto Fishin for the Mission Tournament in which all proceeds are donated to the Mission of Loreto, and to Internado Orphanage. Chris caught his roosterfish on a slow trolled live mackerel, while teammate Tom Bird added in a Salas jig caught 32 pound yellowtail to take first place in the game fish category of the tournament.

Notable other catches included a 53 pound yellowfin tuna by the boat La Tijereta, who also won the dorado segment of the tournament with 2 dorados totaling 67 pounds. A 39 pound wahoo was caught by the boat Big Cheese, and a 34.5 pound wahoo was caught by the boat Baja Invader. Overall fishing was very tough on the 62 boat field that entered the tournament with several boats coming in with the skunk flag flying. More information: www.fishinforthemission.com.
