GOOD YELLOWTAIL FISHING AT PUNTA PULPITO

Dec. 18, 2005, Jeff Petersen, Baja Californian, Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico Report:

The Baja Californian fished north of Loreto at Punta Pulpito today for jurel. Although the yellowtail have been strong in recent weeks, we scoured the bottom, finding just one yellowtail during the first several hours fishing with macarela. The water temperature was 67.1 degrees.

After exploring Isla San Ildefonso and returning closer to Punta Pulpito, Mike Sheffer of Loreto landed a few yellowtail by jigging irons.

Turning home from Punta Pulpito, the birds finally lead us to yellowtail churning the surface. "Augie" Agustino of Loreto landed a couple more on macarela. The fishing weather was perfect. Water calm. Altogether, we caught 7 yellowtail, and odds and ends.
