GOOD MIX OF SAILFISH AND STRIPERS FOR OFFSHORE BOATS

The offshore billfish action at Mazatlan remained good this past week and provided anglers with a 1.5 billfish per boat day average, with a good mix of sailfish and stripers.

Overall Mazatlan fishing reports reflected for 30 boat days had the counts at 25 stripers, (16 released) and 21 sailfish, (19 released) and 12 yellowfin tuna. Superb weather conditions were reported at Mazatlan, with many billfish being seen over a wide area that ranged from 18-25 miles offshore.

Mazatlan weather was mostly sunny, with air temperatures from 53 degree nights to 87 daytime highs, and tropical breezes.

Sea conditions in the Mazatlan coastal area of Mexico were calm, with water temperatures from 71 degrees inshore to 75 offshore, and the best Mazatlan fishing area was 18-25 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid.

The best Lure/Bait was orange, yellow/green. Petrolero was very consistent & was accounting for about 40% of the billfish.
