EASY DORADO LIMITS CAUGHT BUT NOT TOO MANY ANGLERS PRESENT

Sept. 16, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

We had very good fishing at Mazatlan, but it was a slow week for anglers. Dorado catches at Mazatlan remain an all-you-want situation again this week, with easy limits for any of the sportfishing boats that elected to fish for them. Overall catches reflected 12 sailfish, (10 released) and limits of dorado with many releases for 5 super panga fishing days and 7 offshore cruiser days.

Mazatlan weather was warm and humid, and temperatures ranged from 74-92 with mostly cloudy conditions

Mazatlan sea conditions were very good, with stable fishing water temps at 81-82, mostly calm conditions this week, with some swell from the southwest

The best fishing area was offshore to the southwest, 25-27 miles for the billfish and at the buoys for the dorado. Rigged baits were the hot ticket for billfish and all methods seemed to work equally well for the dorado, including live bait, cut bait, strip bait, artificials, etc.
