SMOOTH SEAS BUT SLOW FISHING AND JUST A FEW BOATS GOING OUT

Sept. 27, 2004, Ron Grant, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:

Just returned from Mulege. Weather really nice. Mulege fishing is still slow. Water has been very smooth. Somewhat of a mixed bag on the fishing, The few boats that are going out are leaving early making live bait. Most heading south off the mine area outside Punta Conception looking for Dorado or signs of likely places, winds scum lines or birds. Its a good chance they will pick up 1 to 5 Dorado with a feather stop then cut or live bait. Next they head closer in to the deeper holes for red snapper and pinto bass and hopefully a lunker yellowtail. By the time they get back to the Mulege dock the have a nice mix bag of fish.

Runway in good condition at the Hotel Serenidad. Crossing the border has been a lot easier and cheaper. Avfuel is cheaper than in the states, all landing fees have been lifted and they will sell you a multi entry permit good a year at $55,00. Costly if you only made one trip a year but a good deal if you make several trips a year.
