WINDY FISHING VACATION CONDITIONS FOR BOATS AT POSADA CONCEPCION

April 2, 2005, Mike Massey, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:

I just got back from our annual family Mulege fishing vacation to La Posada Concepcion from 3/26 to today 4/2. There was lots of wind all week at Mulege. We fished inside the bay all but one day.

I don't normally fish really hard with the family along. I would have liked to have been able to get out more often for a shot at the yellowtail, but the wind was really ripping all day and night. It was hard to sleep worrying about the boat out there possibly breaking loose but it held up fine. I did catch and release a lot, 100-plus, small bass inside the bay, as well as cabrilla, grunt and a couple puffers, all on cut squid. Those little bass really saved the days. As always, we had great food, great friends and cold beer at Posada and in Mulege. Hopefully the wind will start to lay down soon now that April is here.

There was a lot of sargasso floating around earlier in the week out in the Mulege sportfishing area. It looks very promising for the upcoming dorado fishing season, after a couple of very disappointing years.
