2005 YELLOWTAIL FISHING TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Our Mulege Spring Yellowtail Fishing Tournament will be held on Feb. 16-17.

Awards Banquet, fish fry and pig roast on the Dec. 18. The boat turning in the largest yellowtail wins. Registration fee is 550 pesos, or 450 pesos if paid before Jan. 16, 2006. First prize is 30,000 pesos; second prize, 15,000 pesos; third prize, 5,000 pesos; biggest "other" fish (sharks, billfish and rays excluded), 5,000 pesos. Lots of other prizes and gift certificates. The rules in effect for this tournament are shown on the Spring Tournament Rules page. Failure to abide by these rules or instructions given by the Tournament Committee may result in disqualification.

The fishing starts at 5 a.m. on each fishing day. Pre-fishing for live bait is allowed. Tournament fishing boundaries are Latitude 27 degrees 31 minutes (north of Isla Tortuga) and Latitude 26 degrees 35 minutes (Bahia San Nicolas). The distance anglers desire to fish east of the mouth of the Mulege River is at their discretion.

Fish will be weighed and measured only at the Tournament's Official Weigh Station which will be located at Bart's Jungle Jim's Bar & Restaurant in Mulege. Fish will be accepted for weigh-in only between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on each fishing day. Fish must be submitted on the same day they are caught. Frozen or otherwise altered fish will not be accepted. Fish submitted for weigh-in become the property of the Tournament.

Registration fees include participation in the fishing tournament and the right to enter the optional fisherman's daily big fish pool.

All registrants receive a Mulege Classic Tournaments Tee shirt, entrance to the Awards Banquet and a chance at one of the many fisherman's door prizes.

Should conditions require the cancellation of the tournament, all entrants will receive a $300 Peso refund. The pig roast banquet and drawings for the raffle and door prizes will be held as scheduled.

Non-fishermen can purchase tickets for the Awards Banquet and charity pig roast for $80 Pesos. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

All anglers agree to enter the tournament at their own risk. Officials, Committee Members and all persons associated with the operation of the Tournament shall be held harmless for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury suffered by any participant, vessel or equipment which may occur during the tournament.

There will be an anglers meeting at the Pelican Reef Bar & Grill starting at 5 p.m. on February 15th. Participation is not mandatory but all anglers not attending agree to be bound by any decision, instructions or clarifications given or made at that meeting.
