FISHING BY MARLA'S FLEET FOR BIG TUNA, RAINBOW RUNNER, PARGO, AND SAILFISH
Oct. 21, 2006, Danny Osuna, Marla's Sportfishing, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico:
Erick Ellis and Jim Bee from Colorado Springs, Colorado, had an outstanding fishing day aboard our charter boat the Marla II with me, Capt. Danny Osuna, landing a 260 pound cow yellowfin tuna while fishing at El Banco off Puerto Vallarta. The water condition was crappy, with a few nice days, but also a few rough days with a lot of wind from both the south and the north. We had a fishing water temperature of 88 degrees.
Larry Wolf from California had a great time on our boat Marla III, fishing with Capt. Alonso Osuna for a cow tuna over 280 pounds, also while fishing at El Banco.
This week we had outstanding fishing for all sizes of tuna. Marla's Fleet had a great time, landing a lot of tunas, sailfish, pargos, rainbow runners, but very few black marlin or blue marlin.
The tunas are biting really good on the drifted live skipjack. We tried the slow troll and we did have some strikes, but they are nailing the skippies better when drifted. The tuna are also taking the chunked baits.
The Marla III with Capt. Alonso landed 7 yellowfin tuna from 100 pounds up to 280 pounds, 9 big pargos, a lot of rainbow runners, and 3 sailfish released.
Our boat Arca de Noe with Capt. Scott Osuna also had a week of great fishing at Puerto Vallarta, landing 5 tunas of 100 to 200-plus pounds, a lot of pargos, and 5 sailfish releases.
The Marla II with me as captain landed over 10 tunas of 100 to 270 pounds, a lot of pargos, rainbow runners, and 3 sailfish released.
The super panga Dhamar with Capt. Danny Gomez had some great trips this week, releasing sailfish and keeping some nice dorados and big roosterfish.
