WINDY WEATHER AND POWER POLE MISHAP DURING PUERTO PENASCO FISHING TRIP

June 4, 2004, Stuart Burnett, Puerto Penasco, Mexico trailering incident:

Hasn't been much going on down in Puerto Penasco. Last weekend was blown out. My buddy Mike Auditore did manage to catch something though -- a telephone line. He was filling up his boat at the Pemex and his T-top caught a low hanging line as he was pulling out and snapped off a telephone pole. He got to experience the Mexican judicial system first hand. They impounded his boat. He had full coverage insurance with Vags and the adjuster came up to Puerto Penasco from Caborca and sorted everything out for him with the police. He got his boat back, but the police then wanted him to pay a fine because "his boat is too tall." He argued back that his boat is not even taller than the Pemex delivery truck and it's amazing that it hasn't already hit the wire. They relented. All's well that ends well, I guess. Poor guy, it was one of those weekends from hell and he didn't even get to fish because of the wind!
