COMMERCIAL BOATS OBSERVED FISHING ALONG MEXICAN COAST

July 22, 2005, Vince Radice, Sonoran Sport Center, San Carlos, Mexico Fishing Report:

I went to Islas Tortuga and San Marcos last week to scout out long liners. In a 60 hour period I counted 5 shrimp boats and 18 pangas working dorado. I didn't catch any dorado at all and the last fish tournament here was pretty light on dorado from what I understand. Yesterday here in San Carlos I saw something I have never seen before. A shrimp boat towing 8 pangas on their way out to fish. In the past the long liners were never that brazen as to move around right in San Carlos in broad daylight. I friend of mine told me he counted 11 turtles on lines on his last trip to Baja.
