YELLOWTAIL SEEN BOILING OFF SAN ANTONIO POINT

Dec. 26, 2005, Steve Calvert, Catch-22, San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico Sportfishing Report:

Monday the 26th was a perfect fishing day at San Carlos. We were fishing at San Antonio Point, and from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. I have never seen so many yellowtail boiling in my life. What a thrill. We put five nice fish in the box, and were home by 9:30. There were lots of fishing boats out. I would guess 30 or so and from what I heard on the radio all San Carlos boats were doing very well.

It has been my experience that yellowtail fishing during the winter at Isla San Pedro Nolasco is fairly consistent. Unlike the island, San Antonio Point seams to turn on and off like a light switch. I spoke with a friend that fished there on the 25th, who saw no boils and caught no fish. I was there on the 26th and saw the most yellowtail boiling I have ever seen in my life. My game plan is San Antonio Point first, if it's dead I go to the island.
