GROUPER TO 74 POUNDS CAUGHT
ON MIDRIFF ISLANDS FISHING TRIP

July 30, 2004, Tony Reyes Jr., Tony Reyes trip to the Midriff Islands, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

"We had great weather all week. We fished at Snake Island, La Asamblea, Bernabe Reef, and Punta Final. We caught live bait every night except the last night because of the full moon phase. Clarence Becker caught the biggest grouper, weighing 74 pounds, but he lost a few more on the bottom. The best fishing for yellowtail was at Snake Island, for cabrilla at Punta Final, and for red snapper at La Asamblea. San Felipe weather was about 95 degrees, with 75 percent humidity. I recommend for the next trips, bring MirrOlures, plenty of 16-ounce sinkers, jigs in several colors in 6XJr. size, and bait rigs for making bait."
