CELIA ANGELINA FISHES IN COOL MIDRIFF ISLAND WATERS

May 14-19, 2005, Celia Castellon, Sea of Cortez Sportfishing, Celia Angelina, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Panga Mothership Fishing Report:

Passengers on a 6 day fishing trip out of San Felipe enjoyed fishing as far as Salsipuedes. The further south we went from San Felipe the colder the water got. The water temperature was 57 to 62 degrees and the air temperature was 82 degrees. There were tons of baby sardines in the water but very little mackerel. Bob wants to know why passengers are not allowed to take squid home with them.

They are only allowed to eat on board or to use squid as bait on board. The officials informed Bob about this last week. Bob reported a longliner was working the Golden Reef. They reported this to Port Captain. Hopefully something can be done about this. The fish count for this San Felipe fishing trip was: 63 Yellowtail to 25 lbs; 1 Black Sea Bass 60 lbs; 2 White Sea Bass to 20 lbs; 57 Cabrilla to 23 lbs; 54 Pargo to 12 lbs; 1 Grouper 52 lbs; a few giant squid and full limits of spotted bay bass.
