MIDRIFF ANGLER LANDS 30 YELLOWTAIL
ON MOTHERSHIP TONY REYES

July 3, 2005, Jack Simpson, Tony Reyes, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Panga Mothership Fishing Trip Report:

I just got back from my Tony Reyes fishing trip, out of San Felipe from June 26 to July 1. We had hot yellowtail action near El Barril, south of San Francisquito. Jon Jackson, Tim Griffin, and I caught 30 yellowtail in 1.5 days, some up to 25 pounds. At one point we caught 11 in 90 minutes. We used pink MirrOlures for trolling and blue/chrome for jigging. On Thursday, June 30, we fished Vela Rock, near Punta Refugio. We had some great bottom action, catching: whitefish, pinto bass, sheepshead, pargo, triggerfish, and cabrilla. We caught 16 different species and I added 3 new ones to my list. They were: Cortez grunt, anchoveta, and a banded lizard fish.
