QUIET, POST-HOLIDAY MOOD IN TOWN

Jan. 8, 2006, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Town Report:

Hola everyone from San Felipe. It's a beautiful day again. Right now, at 9:30 a.m., the temperature on the bookstore balcony is 65 degree in the shade and the humidity is about 36 percent. It's sunny and the sky has a very slight haze over it. The sea at San Felipe is grey-blue and very calm.

San Felipe weather has been almost perfect the last few days, although yesterday there was a cloud covering for part of the day and we had some periods of wind three days in a row. It's staying lighter a little longer each evening and the temperature is perfect for sleeping at night.

This week the town of San Felipe has been pretty quiet. It's the post-holiday doldrums. On the 6th of this month the ladies in the coffee shop celebrated Epiphany with the traditional "Baby Cake." Three of them found "babies" in their slices of cake and so will be obligated to make food for the feast on February 2nd. Maybe I can wangle an invite, I've never been to one of those particular fiestas.

A good friend of ours celebrated her 25th year of sobriety with a large group of her friends this weekend. We congratulate and admire her. Shine on lady! we love you. Until next week, vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
