TITLE COMPANY BOOKSTORE TOWN REPORT

Jan. 13, 2007, Catalina Meders, San Felipe, Title Company Bookstore, Baja California, Mexico:

Hola everyone from San Felipe where it is cold and hazy this morning. It seems we are getting some residuals from the icy snap of weather that is flowing through the central part of the United States and on through Nevada.

Right now 11 a.m. it's 55 degrees on the bookstore balcony and the humidity is 25 percent, but the wind chill seems much lower and people are huddled up in heavy clothes, even the few tourists in town.

San Felipe's vendors are not braving the weather and the swap meet was very sparsely populated this morning. This trend is supposed to continue for the next few days, with more wind and cloudy skies in this part of Mexico.

San Felipe vacation tourism has reached a little lull before the really busy time of year hits us, but luckily the two weeks after Christmas were the most crowded with tourists and visitors from the north that I have seen in at least ten years. There was lots of business in the town.

The San Felipe Players will perform "Cooking With Gus" this coming Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This is the last performance for some of the original founders of the Players. They will be truly missed, but their reasons for retiring are completely understandable. They have worked unbelievably hard over the years to give us joy, laughter, a few tears, and intelligent entertainment, and we do stand and give them a huge farewell ovation. Until next week, vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
