FISHING WITH PALMILLA BAY SPORTFISHING FLEET

TexMay 23, 2004, Luis Duhart, Palmilla Bay Sportfishing, San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico Report:

We had a fire at the commercial section of the hotel where our affices are located and we lost our computers, thank God nobody was hurt and the material things can be replaced. We are operating from the hotel lobby but we have no telephones installed. The hotel and our San Jose del Cabo fleet is working normally. We will be back in our office by the 15th of June.

We have had wonderful San Jose del Cabo weather and fishing, although it is slow. Most boats are coming back with fish, mostly sierra, rooster and pargo. These are close by towards the cortez and 5 to six miles from the beach, also in front of Chileno and Westin. Bait is good sardines and lisa in good quantities and San Jose del Cabo bottom fishing is also good at the gordo banks.

The tuna is far, like 25 miles, out near the Gordo Banks, and the trip there can´t assure you of finding them, so most anglers are opting for staying close and get roosterfish and sierra, and perhaps on one of their fishing days go risk for tuna.

Marlins small ones are everywhere. We had a catch and release of a striped marlin about 3 miles out of our base Palmilla Bay.

Hope things will look better from now on and with a new office like the phoenix we will rise and shine. Barndon Bodily and his wife came this week and risked the tunas. They were lucky. We are getting ready for the WON and Neptune tournament in July and we have 18 boats already confirmed and expecting up to 25.t
