PALMILLA BOATS FISH AT VINORAMA IN SLOW CONDITIONS

July 31, 2005, Luis Duhart, Palmilla Bay Sportfishing, San Jose del Cabo, Baja, Mexico Report:

We had a slow week and some bad weather around San Jose del Cabo (Los Cabos). We had only seven fishing boats going out this week and the fishing was far from San Jose del Cabo, almost all the way to the Vinorama area. Extra fuel for the fishing boats, and the catch was cabrilla, a couple of tunas, and some dorados. It was really difficult to find fish, but most boats came back with something. The bait is still lisa, and the ocean is kind a green and the waves are high.

We had a special angler this week. His name is Jorge Madrid. He is 85 years old and his son Bernardo and granddaughter Julia they are from Cuernavaca, México, and came to fish at San Jose del Cabo for the kids' vacations. He always wanted to fish for sailfish and this time he got one. By the time they brought it to the boat, it was too damaged to survive so they brought it in. They also caught 2 dorados of about 17 pounds, and the best part is that they only went about 3 miles out in front of the Westin Hotel, and there they found all this fish. So you never know with fish or fishing.
