COMMERCIAL FISHING BOATS SEINING GORDO BANKS AREA

For the last few days, most of the San Jose del Cabo sportfishing pangas from La Playita have been going west towards Cabo San Lucas. Today most of the fishing was near Punta Cabeza de Ballena. They are catching a lot of very small tuna, many of them only a couple of kilos. The few doraditos that I have seen have been immature juveniles of a few pounds. There have been a few marlin around too.

The Mexican pangueros say that tuna seiners have been fishing at the Gordo Banks off San Jose del Cabo and even as close to shore as Iman banks. The consistent bite of tuna, as well as pargo and a few wahoo and rainbow runners, etc., at Iman is over because the commercial tuna boats have taken everything.
