THREE DAYS OF FISHING WITH TOMAS CANTOR PANGAS

Nov. 19, 2005, Ray Madrid, La Playita, San Jose del Cabo fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

I fished with my son Andy Madrid on Nov. 12-13-14, 2005, at San Jose del Cabo with Tomas Pangas out of Las Playitas with Capt. Humberto on the Lucy I.

We fished the first day for Yellowfin Tuna. We got 6 small tuna's around 10 to 12 pounds.

The second fishing day out of San Jose del Cabo we went for Wahoo and got 3 strikes, but none were landed.

The last day we went for Dorado and Marlin and did not even get a bite.

The first day we went north of La Playita about 1 hour, I think Iman Bank where we caught the yellowfin tuna. The second day we went for Wahoo and it was further North about 1 hour and 1/2. The third day we went northeast to the Gordo Banks. The water was a nice deep blue. We stayed at the Camino Real Best Western.

Of the 3 days fishing at San Jose del Cabo, we did see several Wahoo landed, with the biggest being 72 pounds. There were few nice 40 pound Dorado around but hard to find. There was plenty of small yellowfin tuna around and the bait of small pinheads sardines was easy to buy.

Most anglers were using size 2 hooks as the bait was so small.

The weather at San Jose del Cabo was warm in the high 80's or low 90's. The wind would pickup in the early afternoons but was still fishable.
