3-BOAT MINI-TOURNAMENT OUT OF THE OLD MILL

Sunday, June 6, 2004, Don Fagan, San Quintin fishing, Baja California, Mexico:

Oscar Guzman, myself and 11 other guys went out from The Old Mill, San Quintin, in 3 boats for a mini tournament. We went to the south end of the island trolling Rapalas, and in ten minutes hooked up five nice yellows. I got one.

We continued trolling for about an hour, no luck.

We later moved around and tried bottom fishing, got 6-7 rock cod and a bass. San Quintin was overcast and cool with a moderate swell, little drizzly later in the morning.

After a few more fruitless hours we headed back, left at 6AM got back in about 2PM.

Everyone kicked in 100 pesos, big fish takes all.

Waiting on the other boats I got a little anxious. I only landed one fish all day, but it was a 20lb yellow and it was the biggest fish on our boat.

Boat 2 came in with 5 yellows to 17 lbs and a mix of rock cod and cabrilla.

Boat 3 came in with one 12lb yellow and limits of rockcod and cabrilla.

I only caught one fish, but I caught the right one.
