ROCKCOD, LINGCOD, AND
YELLOWTAIL LIMITS FOR ALL BOATS

Dec. 19, 2004, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

To all of our customers and readers, we wish to apologize for the inconsistent fish reports as of lately. We had to fly back east for a family emergency. Additionally, the San Quintin fishing pressure has been light due to off and on bad weather.

We had a few fishing boats out of San Quintin this week. Everyone is getting limits of yellowtail and all the rockcod and lingcod they want. Rich Shary from Long Beach, CA brought Brad Halden and Willie Reeves, and his brother, Chris Shary from Florida down to San Quintin for a long weekend of fishing. They fished on the San Quintin boat Rommy with Captain Hector. The first day they landed 17 yellowtail, 15 to 20 pounds and 12 lingcod, 8 to 12 pounds. The second day, they brought in 11 yellowtail and finished off the day with limits of rockcod.

The yellowtail and lingcod were caught mostly on iron, with a few bait fish at the 6 fathom spot. The rockcod were on cut bait at the 240.

The last few days San Quintin weather has been chilly and overcast in the mornings and evenings, but warming up by 11 a.m. The afternoons have been beautiful. No winds to speak of and the road to the Old Mill is drying up pretty rapidly.

The Old Mill Hotel is closed for 2 weeks, Dec. 13-29, but there are still rooms available at Don Eddie's and San Carlos.
