San Quintin, Mexico:
A Slow Week With Only 7 Sportfishing Boats Going Out

Jan. 30, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja fishing, Mexico:

It was a slow week of fishing for us at San Quintin, and Pedro's Pangas had only 7 boats fishing during the week. The San Quintin yellowtail fishing is still wide open at the 15 and 240 spots. There were limits of yellowtail caught by all San Quintin anglers at 15 to 25 pounds, along with lingcod and rockcod. The yellowtail are still hitting a fast moving jig better than live bait. Scrambled egg colored jigs have been working the best. Seals are still a problem.

Winds came up one day at San Quintin, on Saturday, so Capt. Hector took the Rommy south to check the white seabass fishing. He caught three white seabass to 45 pounds and limits of sandbass and calicos.

San Quintin has had no winds, and seas have been calm except for Saturday. As of Sunday at 6 a.m., the winds had stopped completely
