San Quintin, Mexico:
Just A Few Sportfishing Boats Going Out This Week

April 29, 2005, Sarai Garcia, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

This week the weather conditions have been in a constant change in the San Quintin fishing area. Some days are windy and cloudy. Others have been clear and warm up to the mid 70s. But, we haven't had rain fall in San Quintin, and therefore the anglers have been going out to fish.

The anglers have been few at San Quintin, and the outings during the week have dwindled to a couple a day, increasing on weekends. This makes us think that perhaps some of the anglers that drive long distances, like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Arizona, are getting hurt by the price of the gasoline. We hope that this situation will change for the benefit of everybody.

During the week, we had Steve Granger and his group from San Diego who stayed for a few days at Don Eddie's Landing. They went fishing for three days, the first day at the 15, 6, and 240 spots. Another day at the 180 and 240 spots, and the third day at San Martin Island, with very good results catching their limits everyday of rockcod, lingcod, and whitefish.

The water temperatures ranged from 58 to 60 degrees in the San Quintin sportfishing area. The winds were mild and the ocean was slightly choppy. The water was slightly murky and greenish.
