All week, mornings and evening marine layers have persisted in San Quintin, clearing around 10:30 a.m. and returning around 7 p.m. In between, the San Quintin fishing area has had sunshine and warm weather averaging 70 degrees highs, and 60 degree lows. Northwest winds averaged 10 knots in the mornings and 14 knots in the evenings. Waves reached 2 feet, and swells 5 feet. The water temperatures were 58 to 60 degrees, and San Quintin fishing waters were slightly murky in some areas, as strong currents were registered beyond the 240 spot.

Kevin and Mark Patterson of San Diego ventured to the 240 spot, on Don Eddie's Skipjack, City Slicker, with Capt. Gato, and scored big on lingcod, rockcod, and sheephead, also hooking a good sized yellowtail despite the strong currents. Kevin and Mark will have some ling steaks prepared at our restaurant tonight. They are two happy brothers with happy stories of their sportfishing trip to share back home with their friends.

Our sportfishing tournament dates are July 2-3, and Sept. 3-4, 2005. The entry fee is $60. Information, doneddie@hotmail.com. Registration will be done on the first days of the two tournaments, and the rules will be given out at that time.
