San Quintin, Mexico:
Bottom Fish Sportfishing Limits Caught In Cool, Drizzly Weather

June 5, 2005, Sarai Garcia, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

Weather in the San Quintin fishing area was cool drizzly, with low clouds in the mornings and dropping temperatures to 65-60 degrees. Water temperatures were 59-60 degrees, 24 miles out, and 60-59 degrees in the following San Quintin sportfishing locations: San martin island, Ben's Rock, 180, and 240 spots. The water was slightly murky at these spots, but, very clean 28 miles out. Winds in the morning were 10 knots from the southwest; afternoon winds were 17 knots west northwest, with waves of 2 feet and swells of 10 feet.

In San Quintin this weekend we had a full house. All the hotels were packed and we had a good outing on the pangas. Anglers were divided approximately in the following percentages, 75 percent went for deep sea fishing and 25 percent went searching for the elusive yellowtail and White Sea bass.

Those who went bottom fishing got their limits on rockcods, lingcod, plenty of bocaccio, and whitefish.

For those who went searching for the yellowtail, the catch was 7 yellowtails, ranging from 16 to 21 lbs. They were caught at San Martin Island. One White Sea bass was caught at El Socorro weighing 23 lbs.

We want everybody to be informed that K&M Sport fishing of Kelly Catian and Monte Kotur have their home base located at Don Eddie's Landing. Also, Bart Garcia "The Bear" has his base at Don Eddie's Landing, and combined with Don Eddie's Landing pangas makes a fleet of 15 pangas and cruisers.
