PEDRO'S PANGAS SENDS BOATS
OFFSHORE IN SEARCH OF ALBACORE

July 17, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

We had 25 boats fishing at San Quintin this week. Several San Quintin boats went out to look for albacore, 20 to 25 miles off the point, with no luck. Certain currents were found at 60 degrees with warmer currents coming from the south. Most San Quintin sportfishing boats or returned to San Martin Island to get limits or near limits of yellowtail, 18 to 23 lbs., or fished local deep spots, the 240 and Dos Volcanos, for limits of large rockcod and lingcod.

Water conditions are great. San Quintin air temperatures have been in the high 70's and low 80's.
