San Quintin, Mexico:
Capt. Lelo Scores On 18 Yellowfin Tuna About 20 Miles Out Of San Quintin

Aug. 25, 2005, Stan Vath, San Quintin, Baja sportfishing, Mexico:

I've been down in San Quintin at our place in Campo Lorenzo all week. Lelo at Pedro's Pangas caught 18 15-20 pound yellowfin tuna on Monday in tough weather. Lelo was 17-23 miles out on a 240 heading. Then, San Quintin weather improved, but the fishing didn't. He caught 3 more yellowfin tuna on Tuesday.

It blew the first few days but let up yesterday. We fished San Ramon today flipping plastics and caught 2-4 pound calicos, sandbass, and sugarbass. Also 1 halibut that weighed 19.5 lbs.

The local San Quintin pangeros say the weather should hold through the weekend. Lorenzo caught a few halibut Monday up to 35 pounds also fishing San Ramon with live mackerel.
