HEAVY WINDS CLEARING OUT
OF THE FISHING AREA BY MIDWEEK
Oct. 3-7, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:
On Sunday afternoon of last week, heavy winds came in to the San Quintin fisihing area. We had 3 fishing boats out on Monday, only for rock cod and ling cod. There was no chance to get to the island.
Winds died completely at San Quintin on Wednesday.
On Thursday and Friday, Nate Flowers from Las Vegas took his friends fishing on the Pelicano for limits of yellowtail to 25 pounds and ling cod to 16 pounds.
San Quintin weather has been beautiful since that one stretch of winds. Morning temperatures are in the low 70's, afternoons in the mid-90's.
Larry Biedebach of Campo de Lorenzo has opened a new airstrip for small private aircraft, approximately 1/4 mile from the San Quintin launch ramp. Previous arrangements can be made to pick you up at the airstrip if you are fishing with us.
