Good White Seabass Sportfishing Action Out Of Don Eddie's

Sept. 3, 2006, Sarai Garcia, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja, Mexico:

This is the report on the Don Eddie's 6th Annual Labor Day Fishing Tournament, with 47 anglers fishing at San Quintin on 16 boats, on Saturday, Sept. 2nd.

The first place winner was Nick Whitt with a 50.6 pound White Sea Bass caught south of the point in a place called El Pabellon. The fish was caught on 30 pound line and a green Krocodile in 30 feet of water. Their captain was Francisco Berrellesa on the Skipjack charter boat Panchita out of Don Eddie's Landing. The first place winners also caught 3 additional White Sea Bass weighing from 17 to 19 pounds.

Second place was won by Jeff Riolo with a 27.6 pound white sea bass.

Third place was caught by Roberta Ganz, on first time on a fishing outing, with a 21.3 pound White Sea Bass on 30 pound line and using live bait. Their captain was Jaime Garcia on his charter panga Ely.

The second and third place winners caught 7 additional White Sea Bass from 15 to 19 pounds.

San Quintin weather conditions for this Labor Day tournament were excellent.

In today's fishing, September 3rd, at this time of 11 a.m., we just called 5 of our boats and we got the following report: temperature mid 80s; very slight winds; clear waters; water temperature is 63 degrees; and no swells.

San Quintin water currents are minimal and there are no signs of hurricane John around this area. The catches at this time, September 3rd at 11 o clock, from these boats are: 12 White Sea Bass ranging from 27 to 42 pounds. They are also reporting at this time good size yellowtail and great numbers of Bonita and Barracuda.
