San Quintin, Mexico:
Friends Of Andy Club Fishing Trip With Pedro's Pangas

Aug. 26-27, 2006, Mark Rojas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

A group of 11 anglers from The Friends of Andy Fishing Club, La Verne Chapter, fished the San Quintin area with Pedro's Sportfishing fleet at Old Mill on August 26th and 27th.

Eleven of us fished on three pangas from the Pedro fleet, including the boat Paloma captained by Chito.

Seas were calm and flat on the 26th and quickly changed to white caps and swells in the 6 to 10 foot range on the 27th.

Water temperatures varied from 63 degrees to 69 degrees depending on location from the bay.

Six white seabass were reported to 25 pounds. One halibut of 25 pounds and four yellowfin tuna were caught at the San Quintin 240 location in rough water.

Log size barracuda and bonita to 15 pounds were plentiful. A fair number of sandbass were reported for each boat as well. Most fish were caught on white jigs and blue/white jigs.

San Quintin air temperatures were from 65 to 80 degrees, with light winds.

The "Friends of Andy" is a fishing club that is based out of La Verne, California. Andy is a long time fisherman who resides in San Felipe and we have come to admire his fishing technique and years of experience. The club is around 25 fisherman strong.
