FISHING REPORT FOR JUANCHYS AGUILAR'S
PANGA KAROL AT LA BOCANA

Dec. 11, 2004, Capt. Juanchy Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja fishing report, Mexico:

This is the fishing report of my little boat Karol. Today, I fished 5.7 miles south of La Bocana, Baja California, on the Pacific at Roca Ballena bank, fishing deep with live mackerel bait, about 32 to 40 feet deep, in a water temperature of 66 to 67 degrees. It was very hot today, and there was no wind.

Today, Saturday, I caught three broomtail grouper, of 20 to 25 pounds, two grouper of 12 pounds, and two grouper of 35 to 40 pounds. I also caught calico bass and bonito of 7 to 9 pounds, and yellowtail of 30 to 35 pounds. I also heard a radio report from boats, not La Bocana boats, who caught lots of yellowtail of 35 to 40 pounds, with live mackerel bait. Mackerel bait is easy to catch at La Bocana, about 70 baits in 20 minutes. In the mouth of the lagoon, there are lots of cabrilla of 6 to 12 pounds, which can be caught with sardina bait caught with cast nets, also lots of triggerfish to 5 to 6 pounds. The water temperature is 70 degrees only 1.3 miles south of La Bocana.
