BAJA SPORTFISHING AND COMMERCIAL FISHING
BOTH GOOD THIS WEEK AT LA BOCANA
Oct. 8-14, 2005, Juanchys Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja fishing report, Mexico:
We had an excellent week of Baja sportfishing at La Bocana, and commercial fishing also. We caught many yellowtail, enormous quantities of them, only 1 mile from La Bocana. The yellowtail were medium sized. We also caught yellowfin tuna while fishing 6 to 8 miles south of La Bocana, in a water temperature of 67 degrees, and northwest winds of 8 to 10 knots, in clear water.
Peter Hamman and his three friends from San Diego, California, came and fished in their aluminum boats of 16 to 18 feet length, from Monday to Friday, and they had 97 tuna of 30 to 32 pounds, 70 medium yellowtail, large calico bass, eight dorado, and while fishing in the laguna, 20 grouper or more, seven halibut, and many bass. They were very happy with the excellent Baja fishing at La Bocana.
Scott Godman and Carlos L. of Idaho caught many tuna and two dorado at the Polaris bank. They said there were a lot of fish on the 13th, and they caught nine tunas of 20 pounds, eight yellowtail, and two dorado, 7.5 miles out.
Right now, the tuna are hitting green and purple feathers, and also yellow, and iron.
The lobster commercial fishermen at La Bocana have seen many schools of tuna swimming with hundreds of porpoises, very close to shore. This week we have had excellent Baja fishing at La Bocana.
