BAJA SPORTFISHING TRIP TO LA BOCANA PRODUCES
YELLOWTAIL, HALIBUT, CABRILLA, CORBINA, AND GROUPER
Nov. 13, 2005, Juanchys Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja sportfishing report, Mexico:
This week the fishing at La Bocana was very good. We went sportfishing with Robert Williams, Charles, and Fito, from north of San Francisco, Calif., and we went in Robert's boat. They are excellent fishermen, professional, and the boat was a 20 foot aluminum, very good boat.
It was their first time fishing at La Bocana and they were very pleased. For four days of Baja sportfishing, they had 105 yellowtail, some medium, but also some larger at 30 to 35 pounds, and two possibly of 50 to 51 pounds. They caught a large grouper of 75 pounds and five of 20 to 25 pounds.
They did not want to fish for tuna or dorado. Fishing inside Laguna la Bocana, they caught four halibut, lots of small cabrilla, and four more halibut and two corbina by casting from the beach. It was good fishing.
Today, the commercial fishermen report excellent yellowtail catches, northwest winds of 14 to 16 knots, partly cloudy skies, a water temperature of 71 degrees, and fishing for yellowtail and grouper about 38 to 45 feet deep.
