OCEANSIDE SENIOR ANGLERS CLUB MEMBERS FISH
OUT OF CASA DIAZ AT BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES

March 18, 2005, Lee Wood, Oceanside Senior Anglers, Bahia de los Angeles club fishing trip, Baja California, Mexico:

Four members of the Oceanside Senior Anglers and two others fished for two days at Bahia de los Angeles (L.A. Bay). We used the pangas from Casa Diaz and had great fishing for both days. We were fishing up at Bajo Guadalupe, north of Bahia de Los Angeles. We kept drifting past the wrecked ship at the north end of the Island. Our pangueros were Hildalgo and Pepe. They put us onto many yellowtail from 8 to 20 pounds and many spotted bay bass and their version of the lingcod, commonly known by us as jawfish.

The wind came up both days around noon and made for a bumpy ride back to Bahia de Los Angeles each day. The fishing water temperature was chilly at 50 degrees, but the fishing was outstanding.

Two weeks earlier all the yellowtail caught were all between 18 to 22 pounds, so we were not as lucky as those members who fished at Bahia de Los Angeles that weekend. The anglers that went on this last trip were Mike Mercado, Vern Francis, Dennis and Doug Dannat, Don Gallagher and myself.
