NORTH AND WEST WINDS RIPPING IN THE
BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES AREA OF BAJA

April 9, 2005, Abraham Vazquez, Camp Gecko, Bahia de los Angeles, Baja, Mexico:

The weather at Bahia de los Angeles (L.A. Bay) de los Angeles is not nice at the moment. Temperatures are okay in the mid-70s during the day and in the mid-60s at night, but the winds have been out of this world. Some days its from the north and some days from the west, but there have been very few days at Bahia de los Angeles that you are able to go fishing. The local fishing is slow at the moment and the yellowtails are gone for now. There is a good bite on leopard grouper at the shoreline at the big island in the Los Machos area, but most of the time you cannot make it there. The squid are also showing up at the reefs. The water temperature in the Bahia de los Angeles fishing area is a little warmer than usual, 62-64 degrees, for this time of the year. I think this is because the strong winds have been moving the warmer water south from San Felipe. But how soon the fish will show up who knows? The gas station is still not open. The road to Bahia de los Angeles is in great condition. FONATUR is still trying to start building golf courses and 5 star hotels and marinas over at Punta la Gringa.
