NOW'S THE TIME TO CATCH A YELLOWTAIL
FROM THE BEACH AT SAN FRANCISQUITO
June 11, 2005, Roger Crenshaw, San Francisquito, Baja California, Mexico:
I am just off the phone with J.L. Terry who lives in the port. Fishing is same as last week but better. If someone has never caught a yellowtail from the beach, now is the time to go.
Last week, I was at San Francisquito. We were there from last Friday for days. No bugs, but some bees. Temperature 76. No wind. In the a.m., there was a 5 knot out of south. No humidity.
Yellowtail are in with a vengeance. They are picky since there are tons of bait in the water. Catching off the beach. Seem very large this year. All about 25-35 pounds. Squid are in and easy to catch. White Seabass are in and easy to catch in evening and morning. I would say that overall this is the best fishing down there the whole year thus far. My son Brant rowed a kayak out in front of the cabanas and caught a yellowtail in 15 minutes on a Salas. Very few tourists! I think maybe 5 for the week.
