FISHING THE OUTER BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES
CHANNELS ON A DAGGETT'S CAMP SUPER PANGA

Aug. 27, 2005, Bob Wasilausky, Daggett's Camp, Bahia de los Angeles fishing trip, Baja California, Mexico:

On Aug. 24-25-26, we fished with Enrique Daggett out of Daggett's Camp at Bahia de los Angeles for three days on his super panga.

We fished Angel de la Guardia Island for the first two days, and the outer channel on the third day.

The first two days of fishing we worked hard for 3 dorado each day plus a number of grouper. We lost a large leopard grouper at the boat when the shredded line broke. The dorado were found trolling the weed line on the first day that was only a hundred yards off the island.

The second day all the dorado were caught while trolling in the rocks right up on the beach.

The last day was a bonanza under a large weed patch we found by trolling up a slick line. There were at least 50 in the school under the weeds and they were very aggressive. We caught and released them until we ran out of bait and handed the weed off to another panga.

The water temperature at Bahia de los Angeles was in the low 80's and the color was quite green. We had hot humid nights with large cloud formations and lightning displays over on the mainland. Getting bait took a couple of hours on most days. There were lots of 3-5 pound yellowtail available but nothing larger.
