BAJA AIR VENTURES IS RUNNING WEEKLY
FLY-IN TRIPS TO BAHIA DE LAS ANIMAS
Oct. 21, 2005, Tim Farwell, Baja Air Ventures, Bahia de los Animas, Baja California, Mexico:
Our fly-in trips to Bahia de los Angeles and Las Animas, are going weekly.
Three weeks ago we saw the one and only Whale Shark of the area. I'm not sure that Doc Abram from Camp Gecko believed me except for the pictures we had.
As for the fishing it's wide open for Yellowtail. But I must say that they are the rat size of under seven pounds, excellent sushi. We were having great luck catching them from shore with surface iron while the birds were crashing and then a quick trip around the bay also produced unlimited Yellow's on small CD-14 Rapalas, and also surface trolled iron. Who knew?
There were also four Bonita in the catch last week in the seven pound range. One fishing trip was cut short by a Rapala to yours truly. The darn fish made one heck of a back flip and the hook ended up lodged in my knuckle. Glad we had a medic in the group!
As usual, there were unlimited bottom fish and the week's choice activity was kayak fishing at sunup and sundown.
The water temperature is still in the high 70's and the wind comes and goes. We have a trip returning this Saturday.
I still have my 12 foot Sea Nymph with 7 h.p. Johnson for sale. The boat includes seats, anchors, oars, and everything needed to go fishing. The is no trailer, but there is a rack that fits standard size pickups. I'd like $500, timfarwell@adelphia.net.
