FISHING FOR MEXICAN FISH LIMITS OF PINTO BASS
OUT OF THE SAN FRANCISQUITO RESORT
Jan. 18, 2006, Chuck Decker, San Francisquito, Baja California, Mexico:
Seven guys in two aircraft flew into San Francisquito, Baja California, Mexico, and fished Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, and caught limits of fish each: Pinto Bass up to 8 pounds, White Fish and Sheeps Head.
Fishing again on Sunday morning we caught the same. However we also picked up a Black Sea Bass of about 60 pounds plus and some Yellowtail up to 20 pounds.
We fished out of the San Francisquito resort boats with no name. They have one boat, but contract with the local commercial fisherman just below them in Rancho Barril.
The fish where all caught on a reef straight out from the resort about 5 miles. No bait, we just used Blue/White and White 7X Salas jugs. Water color was clear blue. There were birds working at all, All fish were caught in about 150 to 200 feet of water, jugging right off the bottom.
The San Francisquito Cabanas are in the same shape for the last several years, clean and rustic. They have cold beer and food, but the key thing is they still do not have ice for drinks and fish to take home! I did bring my own ice in the plane, but it is a lot of weight I don't like to take.
Food at San Francisquito is always fairly good. Breakfast can be Huevos Rancheros or scrambled eggs; lunch is fish tacos or burrito's; dinner can be fried or garlic fish or a Mexican dish. Breakfast and lunch is about $7.50 and dinner is $14.00.
On Monday it blew pretty hard so we just left for home around 10 a.m. and it was still blowing hard.
