LOTS OF YELLOWTAIL CAUGHT OUT OF BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES
June 27, 2006, Peter Lamy, Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico fishing:
Our "King of the Cage" group had their annual trip down to Bahia de los Angeles in Baja on June 23-26, 2006. The guys found a good steady pick at the fish.
Those who chose to make the run to the outside islands found a good mix of yellowtail from 12-40 pounds taken on the blue and white yo-yo iron with some nice groupers up to 50 pounds big yellowtail coming out of the shallow water on the slow trolled mackerel.
Those who stayed close to the beach took on limits of yellowtail 10-15 pounds. The only problem was the big squid that would move in and attack the jigs.
We had a large group and fished for 3 days. We fished 3 of our own boats and on 8 local pangas with 25 anglers. We stayed at Los Vientos. Loved the place.
We caught about 150 yellowtail and 100 bottom fish each day. We fished Smith Island, and Coronadito for a lot of 10-pound yellowtail and squid.
