GOOD MIDRIFF DORADO FISHING AT ISLA
PARTIDA WITH CAPT. GUILLERMO GALVAN
Aug. 8, 2006, Jeff Riolo, Isla Partida, Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico:
Don Schuldies and I fished last week with Captain Guillermo Galvan and First Mate Jose in Bahia de los Angeles.
Two days of fishing between the south end of Isla Angel de La Guarda and Isla Partida produced 16 Dorado the first day and another 25 Dorado the second day.
The sea off Bahia de los Angeles was blue and calm with a light wind. The air temperature was only around 90 degrees and water temperature at 83 degrees made for a great weather and fishing experience.
Bait was made in the bay and with Guillermo's new outboard engine on his super panga the travel time to Isla Partida was only about an hour.
Average dorado size was 15-18 pounds, with several bulls going at around 30 pounds each.
Fishing on day two, the dorado bite was wide open on a temperature break under paddies. These were the first Dorado taken in Bahia de Los Angeles this season and the outlook now that the bad weather is long gone is excellent.
From Bahia de Los Angeles we drove to San Quintin for two days of fishing over the weekend with Captain Jamie Garcia.
